The crew of "Naughty Angel" B-24H 42-52318 shown prior to their being shot down 6-9-44 on M 56 to Munich, Germany when German Fighters of the Herman Goering Yellow Nosed F-190s from near Udine, North Italy attacked the 459 BG formation on the way to the Munich,GR munitions depot at the Munich A/D all the way to the target and on the return trip down to the Adriatic. The Group lost 5 A/C and 50 men that day. Lt Glenn Strong is second from right in rear row and Lt McManus is on the far right. One of the air men in the picture is right waist gunner,Vincent Marimpetrie,who was killed in this action when his parachute was damaged by enemy incendiary gunfire and failed to open. He and other crewmen are not identified in the photo. (Does any one know their identity? Webmaster)
